1.    12 Years a Slave movie(Best Picture) Synopsis:

A 12 Years a Slave is a 2013 historical drama film and an adaptation of the 1853 memoir of the same name by Solomon Northup, a New York State-born free negro who was kidnapped in Washington, D.C. in 1841 and sold into slavery. He worked on plantations in the state of Louisiana for twelve years before his release. The first scholarly edition of Northup's memoir, co-edited in 1968 by Sue Eakin and Joseph Logsdon, carefully retraced and validated the account and concluded it to be accurate.

5. The Great Gatsby movie synopsis :
  • The Great Gatsby is a 2013 Australian-American 3D drama film. An adaptation of the film was a tribute to F. Scott Fitzgerald on the 116th anniversary of his birth and the 1925 novel of the same name, the film was co-written and directed by Baz Luhrmann, and stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire, Carey Mulligan, Joel Edgerton, and Elizabeth Debicki. It follows the life and times of millionaire Jay Gatsby and his neighbor Nick, who recounts his encounter with Gatsby at the height of the Roaring Twenties.
  • The film was originally going to be released on December 25, 2012, but moved to May 10, 2013 in 3D. It received mixed reviews from critics, but proved a financial success. The government of Australia contributed financially to the making of the film with tax subsidies.
